CDSB: Created the communications campaign for CDSB’s incorporation into ISSB ensuring a smooth stakeholder transition

The challenge

Sillion was selected to provide strategic communications support to the CDSB, one of the world’s leading ESG disclosure standard setters, in the run-up to their incorporation into the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

The challenge was to turn a potentially sad occasion into positive celebration around the organisation’s achievements and the upcoming streamlining of disclosure standards. We also needed to make clear the ongoing relevance of the CDSB’s frameworks for users whilst the ISSB was spinning up.

Our approach

We provided strategic advice and a cross-channel communications plan which allowed the CDSB to bow out on a high, reflecting on 15 years of progress while positioning the ISSB as an incoming leader.

This involved developing a full social media campaign for the CDSB’s recent biodiversity framework, beginning with mapping each stakeholder’s concerns with the framework, and then breaking down the technical guide into digestible posts for digital channels to be rolled out as part of a targeted campaign.

This torch-passing culminated in a playful transformation of the logo: interpreting the CDSB’s red circle logo as a literal setting sun, we gradually ‘set’ the logo across all channels, drawing attention to the transition.

Outcomes

  • The communications and social media plan effectively informed stakeholders of CDSB’s activities leading up to incorporation, making the transition to ISSB transparent and easy to follow.

  • The reflective timeline and executive summaries highlighted 15 years of CDSB’s contributions, allowing stakeholders to appreciate their impact on ESG disclosure standards.

  • Strategic guidance helped shift stakeholder attention to ISSB as the future leader in ESG standards, ensuring a smooth transition.

“Sillion provided invaluable support around our integration with the ISSB, helping us communicate a complex story and providing insightful guidance on the comms challenge ahead. Their expertise in the ESG regulatory landscape made them the ideal consultancy for the task.”
