Schroders: Refined impact position and developed their first Impact report

The challenge

Schroders is a global investment manager and FTSE100 constituent. With impact rising on the agenda of investors in a rapidly evolving landscape, Schroders set the objective of establishing global leadership in impact. As retained consultants for the Group, Sillion was approached with the challenge of defining Schroders’ long-term role in impact, determining the hierarchy of impact within its brand, and developing its first ever impact report.

Our approach

Working closely with Schroders’ global impact team, we dove deep into the development, aim, and functionalities of Schroders impact goals, framework and product range. In a series of workshops led by us, we then visualised the trajectory of impact in asset management, Schroders’ ambitions within the space, and the unique strengths of its approach, team, and products, against competitors and nuanced audience segments.

Successfully carving out its unique role in the space, we managed the project on a global scale from inception to strategy to working-group formation, narrative development, and the development of a first-of-its-kind impact report.

Outcomes

  • Schroders first impact report, setting a standard of rigorous reporting and best-practice format in an industry that is still defining impact.

  • Schroders has been recognised as leading by Bluemark – ranking up as the only large-scale, multi-strategy asset manager to have achieved this status alongside a range of pureplay impact managers and DFIs.
