We are pleased to present the second edition of Sillion’s Annual Investor Sustainability Report, a guide for UK-listed companies to understand what investors want from corporate sustainability disclosures and communications.

We interviewed a selection of asset managers based in the UK, EU, Asia and US to provide first-hand perspectives on sustainability- related issues relevant to 2022 and beyond. In speaking with a dozen asset managers with assets under management of over £2.5 trillion, we’ve collated the most salient themes regarding ESG strategy and disclosure and how these regulations may have a secondary effect on what investors will require from corporates moving forward.

Key takeaways from this report:

  • Direct company-level environmental comparison is anticipated in the next twelve months.

  • Fund-level ESG disclosures will place decisions with portfolio managers.

  • Sophisticated ESG and stewardship continue to be marketing differentiators for asset managers.

  • Scale of ESG analysis remains a challenge for investors – ESG ratings agencies are still important

  • List of ESG demands on corporates is becoming longer and more complex, but also more consistent and predictable
